Due to the implementation of the Minimata Treaty, there will “not” be over “ninety” mercury-based products (thermostat, fluorescent or mercury lamps, etc.) manufactured or imported into the United States. We believed this was not going to occur until late 2023 – 2024. LED illumination is still not any closer to mercury vapor in many ways. It will probably be four to five years before an equivalent LED lamp would be made available.

The “best technologically advanced LED lamp” currently costs JWLI $165.00. The LED beam spread is only 45 degrees VS. mercury vapor 135 degree beam spread. The color of 5,000K LED is hideous and very artificial colored. Lamp life of MV and LED are very close, 24,000 VS. 25,000 respectively. The brightest LED light is equivalent to only around 70-80 watts of mercury vapor gas discharge. Simply stated, if your trees are larger than 16-18 feet tall, then you are “NOT” able to use LED currently.

As the largest supplier of mercury vapor lamps for landscape illumination in the United States, we have stockpiled at the best price available our custom lamps and transformers. We are the “ONLY” supplier left in the USA for your “specifically” designed JWLI equipment needs. We currently still have over 5,800 mercury vapor lamps of all wattages, as well as transformers for your illumination design. This JWLI custom equipment will last only around another year or so before we exhaust our stock.

To all our “Valued Clientele”, we want to offer the ability for you to have “one exact set” of your JWLI designed lamps and associated transformers needed. The extra set of “future equipment” will enable your current artistic design to continue working perfectly for “five to seven years”. By then, I do believe we will have a comparable LED lamp. These new LED lamps, when finally available at a respectable price, will be compatible with your existing JWLI “bullet fixtures & recess units”.

As we currently continue to maintain your beautiful JWLI nighttime ambience, there will only be the charge of labor to maintain your lighting units. We will keep track of all the lamps and transformers we use each year for your records.

A couple of our clients had specific questions that are answered below. Thought this would be good for you to know.

          First, mercury vapor has five different lamp wattages, as well as four different transformer / capacitor types. Not all combinations of ballast, capacitor and lamp work together. We have the best matching equipment that has been in your trees and gardens for many years past.
Second, JWLI purchased very large quantities of the best compatible equipment to last the longest and brightest. Yes, larger quantities in the thousands do cost more per piece of equipment, especially since there is not anymore to purchase.
Third, just to clarify your overall budget. Included is the cost of lamps that will be bubble wrapped individually by JWLI to prevent breakage. Also, we test a certain amount of each case of lamps and transformers to make sure they are working perfectly. Yes, this process takes much time and labor. However, JWLI will only deliver your custom equipment the safest way possible.
